 FPDAM Airport

FPDAM is a CAD tool that provides an interactive environment for 3-D aeronautical instrumental flight procedures design, airspace management and air navigation, using conventional navaids and RNAV concepts.

FPDAM Airport is part of the FPDAM family and can be used when not all the flight procedures design functions are necessary for a particular user. It allows the management of the airport environment and builds and analyzes airport obstruction surfaces according to ICAO Annexes 4 and 14.

The functionalities allow a complete management of the following aeronautical features:

  • Aerodromes
  • Runways
  • Navaids
  • Man-made obstacles
  • Lighting systems

This system is also able to be connected with the Aerodrome Obstacles Charting tool, for the creation of Obstacles Charts type A, B and C.


Administrative functions:


  • Database connectivity and administration functions
  • Project and User Management - from the standard FPDAM main menu
  • Terrain data and maps management: vector contour levels, digital terrain models, raster images are handles for displaying and evaluation
  • Magnetic variation management

FPDAM Airport Main Functions:


  • Surface constructors: Annex 4 and 14 surfaces, clearance surfaces (OAS, basic OLS, OCS, TOFPA (Annex 4), PAPI, CRM analysis). All the surface parameters are by default compliant with ICAO Annexes 4 and 14, however can be fully configured for non-standard constructions. All parameters can also be associated with an effective date.
  • Obstacle management utilities:
    • Read from ASCII files compliant with the following formats:
      • CRM
      • ANOV
      • DAFIF
      • UDF (projected coordinates, geo coordinates etc)
    • Load and draw obstacles from database, load ASCII files into database, management of local reference system
  • Interference check: Obstacle clearance or specific and generic surfaces, planar areas interference, visual volumetric analysis, minimum sector altitude evaluations. All the results are associated with an effective date and saved both into the database and in a graphical environment (vector file)
  • Geodesic tools: geodesic radials, high precision fixes creation, arcs, distances
  • Basic instruments: straight tracks, DME arcs, turns, wind spirals
  • General utilities: fix creation, radials, navaids, display quick information between graphic elements
