The first system to system interface to the European AIS Database (EAD)

AreoEAD allows the connection between IAS Aeronautical Database (AeroDB) and the European AIS Database (EAD). The users take advantage of the AeroDB unique flexibility to fir their particular needs, while still sharing the relevant data information with EAD.
AeroEAD enables EAD data providers and EAD users to exchange data in both directions between the two databases using the ESI interface. It allows the exchange of information with EAD SDO and PAMS subsystems.
AeroEAD is totally compatible with the EAD program. It integrates existing IDS Aeronautical applications with the SDO and PAMS subsystem of the EAD. Third party INO system providers will be allowed to use the existing architecture to communicate between their application and the INO subsystem of the EAD.
To allow for flexibility, AeroEAD has a server component and a client component, which may be located on the same or different computers.
The client allows:
The server is a customisation of the ENA system.
The architecture is such that the server may have more than one client user. In this way more than one operator may use the EAD interfacing functions in accordance with their user privileges. Other systems may, if necessary, share services provided by this server.
In cases where third party systems are clients, AeroEAD does not perform any processing of the corresponding XML interchange data files foreseen by EAD, as the AeroEAD clients are not involved. This processing must be performed by the (external) application requesting the services of the AeroEAD server.
The AeroEAD server application contains routines for client request/response, EAD request/response, client and/or EAD Message receive, distribution, request, database manager, LAN/WAN communication, firewall etc. In addition, AeroEAD server provides a logging mechanism. AeroEAD server implementation is based on a IDS customised Eurocontrol ENA package. ENA mapping packages are not used by AeroEAD as it makes use of its own mapping modules.
A typical approach is as follows:
Server:
Client:
IDS provides all necessary training and software maintenance. Through IDS maintenance the customer has the guarantee that the product will be kept aligned with the evolution of AIXM and all other EAD interfacing standards.
