The IDS Aeronautical Automation Solution

The integrated aeronautical solution offered by IDS provides a comprehensive workflow for the day by day operation of the AIS organisation. The heart of IDS success in managing aeronautical information and products is its unique, centralised aeronautical database, built in relational technology, and the utilisation of temporal functionality to control change. The Aeronautical Database (AeroDB) contains not only data and metadata, but also the content, organisation and description of the aeronautical products are an integral part of it as well.

The centralised aeronautical database ensures that all users have instantaneous access to the latest and up-to-date aeronautical information, able to produce up-to-date charts and publications, and validate and design flight procedures.

IDS offers a unique approach to the automation of AIS functions. The Aeronautical Solution products are designed to gradually phase-in increasingly automated levels of AIS operation, thus allowing a smooth transition to a fully automated system. Full automation is obtained when the AIS data management, information monitoring and publishing functions are integrated into IDS's IAS Suite (IDS AeroDB Suite). As a general purpose utilities product, IDS proposes its Aeronautical Information Workflow Management System (GFeaMan, PLX (GFeaMan Planning Extension). GF-PLX provides an automated system able to catalogue, verify, review, monitor and track source information through various workflows in the AIS environment. GF-PLX is for use by agencies that plan, monitor and publish changes affecting flight operations within a country's airspace.
